News – Pasar Malam 2022 | All Saints’ College

With the safety and wellbeing of our community of paramount importance, All Saints’ College wishes to advise its community that we have made the difficult decision to postpone, and possibly cancel for 2022, our much-loved Pasar Malam Festival, scheduled for Friday, 25 February 2022, due to the risks associated with the ongoing pandemic.

With our state border due to reopen on 5 February, and the evidence from other states on the speed of transmission of the virus once borders have reopened, it has become clear that Pasar Malam in its usual format is likely to be severely compromised should the College be permitted to proceed with staging the event as planned.

As the event typically attracts over 5 000 attendees it is likely that proof of vaccination will be required for entry so the event would need to be securely fenced, along with the possibility of masks and perhaps reduced-capacity limits.

“We appreciate that this is a very disappointing outcome for everyone - Pasar Malam is such an enormously popular community event – but it is obviously critical that we prioritise the safety of our community members, at this time,” said College Principal, Belinda Provis. “We are absolutely committed to Pasar Malam as a regular part of ASC’s calendar, and so look forward to seeing it reinstituted at a time of greater certainty and safety.”

The College will continue to closely monitor the pandemic-related impacts on our community and other major events, as and when the border reopens, to determine whether it is possible to stage Pasar Malam, or an alternative event, later in 2022.

The College thanks its community and suppliers for their understanding and wishes everyone a blessed Christmas and a safe and happy new year.
