Two ASC students Strike a Chord

Two talented All Saints' College musicians and scholarship recipients, who form part of an ensemble 'Four Strings' outside of ASC, were selected among just 12 groups (and the only WA ensemble) to perform in the national finals of Musica Viva's 2021 Strike a Chord Championships.

Aaron Ooi (Year 9) and Paula Krause (Year 8) along with their two peers performed two movements of Ignaz Lachner’s Quartet in G online at the ABC Studios last weekend, as the live finals were cancelled due to travel restrictions. While the quartet did not receive a placing, the students had a memorable experience performing live in the ABC Studio.

Aaron said the piece had taught them many skills such as “learning to communicate with each other, especially in some of the question-and-answer sections.”

The ensemble has been performing together only since last year, and formed through the WA Young Artists Chamber Music Program.

The quartet were featured in The West Australian on Sunday, 8 August. To read more, click HERE.
