Student Choreography Takes Centre Stage in Radiate Dance Concert

The 2025 Dance Concert Radiate celebrates light, joy and connection, brought to life through the creativity and leadership of talented staff, guest choreographers and student choreographers.

Our talented student choreographers showed off their artistic direction and leadership skills in many pieces, crafting works that explored themes from the vibrancy of Rio Carnival to the quiet strength of Marie Curie, the complexities of friendship, love and memory and the luminous beauty of bioluminescent waves.

“Our student choreographers have inspired their peers with imagination, dedication and creative drive,” said Dance Coordinator Ms Narelle Codalonga. “Their leadership has been central to the energy and emotion on stage.”

Jinning (Year 11) explored the story of Marie Curie in her piece entitled Time, using movement to portray the challenges of working in a male-dominated field and the reclaiming of power and autonomy. It’s a thoughtful and empowering piece that blends science, history and emotion.

Tyler (Year 11) choreographed Emotional Radiance, a moving exploration of how positive emotion can spread from one individual to many. Set to Eden by Hozier, the piece begins with a single dancer radiating joy, gradually influencing others until the group becomes a unified emotional body, a powerful metaphor for the impact of kindness and collective emotional energy.

Amelia teamed up with Rohail (both in Year 12) to create Crazy In Love, a bold, high-energy celebration of self-expression and contagious joy, featuring the upbeat tunes of Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.

Together, these student choreographers have shaped a concert filled with meaning, creativity and heart. Radiate continues tonight and tomorrow night, showcasing the amazing talent and leadership of our young dancers.
