Hands-On Learning Through InnovatED Projects

Over the past term, Year 7 and 8 students have been diving deep into hands-on learning through the InnovatED program, exploring bold ideas, building new skills, and pushing the limits of their creative thinking.

Students selected from a wide range of choices, from designing future cities in Project Utopia to building 3D heroes and villains, developing escape rooms, or crafting miniature worlds using AI and VR. Each pathway invited problem-solving and experimentation, with some students decoding environmental challenges in the Wetlands Project or creating upcycled circus props.

Throughout the term, students planned, researched, created and refined their ideas, learning how to manage their time, adapt to challenges and present their work with confidence. Beyond the technical skills, they built capabilities that underpin learning at All Saints’ College: Agency in Learning, Active Citizenship, Communication, Collaboration and Quality Thinking.

Last week marked the conclusion of the project, with students proudly presenting the work they had developed over the term.

InnovatED gives students the chance to explore meaningful, real-world learning in a way that feels relevant and exciting. Students showed great imagination, effort and energy throughout the term and left with not only a final product, but a deeper understanding of how to think critically, collaborate effectively and take creative risks.
