Meet the Theatre Tech Team: Dave Spooner and Julian Nichols
All Saints’ College is proud to spotlight the talented team leading our key events: Theatre Manager Dave Spooner and Theatre Technician Julian Nichols. Together they bring decades of experience and a shared passion for performance, enriching the creative lives of students from behind the scenes.

Dave Spooner joined the College following a long-standing career in theatre tech at St Hilda’s. Known for his calm, collaborative style, Dave now oversees venue operations and technical production at All Saints’. His steady leadership ensures the seamless delivery of College productions, events and performances.
Working alongside him is Julian Nichols, an accomplished technician and artist whose impressive CV includes work on major productions for Taylor Swift, Queen, U2, Disney, Cirque du Soleil and Crown Perth. A WAAPA graduate in Composition and Music Technology, Julian is also a professional Irish fiddle player, classical and folk composer and a proud Old Saint from the Class of 1997.
Dave and Julian work collaboratively with students in the theatre tech cocurricular, offering real-world expertise, mentorship and industry insights to the students. Their guidance elevates each performance, like the recent Dance Concert at the end of Term 2 and strengthens the College’s commitment to high-quality arts education.
We are glad to welcome Dave and Julian to our community, and they’ve already made a great start, quickly becoming valued members of the team and bringing their unique skills, experience and enthusiasm to the work they do each day.
