We are delighted to announce that Natasha Saunders, one of our much-loved English teachers, has been named a winner of the Curtin School of Education Mentor Teacher of the Year 2025 Award.

This prestigious award celebrates the outstanding effort, commitment, and care that mentor teachers dedicate to supporting pre-service teachers. With more than 180 nominations received from across early childhood, primary and secondary education, Natasha’s dedication truly set her apart. Being selected as one of only three winners in her category makes this recognition even more remarkable.

Natasha is admired by students and staff alike for her passion, encouragement and genuine care. Her positive influence extends far beyond the classroom, inspiring both her colleagues and the next generation of educators.

"I am so completely surprised and humbled to win this award," said Natasha.

"Teaching is a unique profession where you are constantly challenged and surprised, always learning, and no two days are ever the same. In a climate where teacher retention is low, I feel passionate about helping early career teachers experience the same joy and fulfilment I find in the classroom every day.

"Education is one of the most powerful tools we have, and by supporting pre-service teachers, I hope to nurture their confidence and love for the profession so they can flourish and thrive," added Natasha.
