Souran Mischra and Steve Rocha Conclude Their Residency at All Saints' College with a Memorable Farewell Performance

Souran Mishra and Steve Rocha's residency at All Saints' College wrapped up with an unforgettable final day, marking the end of an inspiring four-week residency.

The culmination of their time at the College was a special Circus performance, where Year 9 students showcased their hard work and talent for an audience of Year 5 students. Over the course of the residency, the growth in the Year 9 students’ skills was remarkable, with individual talents emerging in unexpected areas. The performance featured stilt walkers, unicyclists, jugglers, hula hoops, and much more, providing a vibrant celebration of the students' newfound abilities.

Mr Paul Green, who arranged the residency, reflected on its success, with particular emphasis on the growth students showed in the final performance: "Watching the Year 9s overcome their fears and step into the spotlight was the highlight of the programme. They learned to embrace failure, laugh when things didn’t go to plan, and, most importantly, have fun."

Souran and Steve both expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome they received from the All Saints' College community. Souran, who had never worked abroad with children for an extended period, initially had reservations about how he would be received. “It was my first time working with children for such a long time, and I worried whether they would accept me,” he shared. “But after one week of working with the children here, I felt like home. I feel like I’ve known them for a very long time, and when I see them around the school, they always greet me and say ‘hi Souran’.”

For Steve, a standout moment was witnessing the College’s commitment to embedding justice into the curriculum. “It’s not something we see everywhere,” he said. “It speaks volumes about the leadership here and sets a powerful example of serving with courage and wisdom. The teachers did an excellent job incorporating justice into their lessons and assignments.”

As for what’s next, Souran and Steve plan to spend a few days in Adelaide before planning their next move in spreading the message of justice. They look forward to seeing the lasting impact of their work at All Saints' College and hope to return in the future.
