Strengthening Connections: The Deadly Group and Reconciliation at All Saints’ College

The Deadly Group at All Saints’ College continues to play a vital role in fostering cultural pride, connection, and leadership among our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Over the past year, the group has strengthened bonds between students, ensuring they feel recognised and supported within the College community. Through their participation, students have been empowered to make a positive impact both at school and in the wider community.

Aboriginal Islander Education Officer Zac Scott spoke about what the Deadly Group has planned for 2025: “ The Deadly Group plans to provide more cultural experiences and days out once a term to help build the sense of community, identity, and connection to culture. These activities provide our Indigenous students with the tools necessary to become confident leaders through school and into the real world.”

Zac continues to speak of his hopes for the future of the Deady Group: “I hope for the Deadly Group to be a voice that can continue contributing to the strong ongoing success and celebrations of cultural connections here at All Saints.”

In alignment with these efforts, All Saints’ College is proud to announce that our Narragunnawali 2025–26 Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has been officially approved by Reconciliation Australia. This significant milestone reflects our commitment to embedding reconciliation initiatives meaningfully within our community. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the students, staff, and community members who contributed their time and insights to shaping the RAP. Your dedication has been invaluable in ensuring that our College continues to foster meaningful reconciliation. The RAP is now available on MyASC, and we encourage our community to explore the strategies outlined within it.

To further celebrate our commitment to reconciliation, we invite all students, parents, family, and friends to join us for the Closing the Gap Day Family Event. This community gathering will be an opportunity to learn more about our RAP, the RAP Working Group, our Aboriginal Liaison Officer, and the strategies we are implementing to support reconciliation at the College, including the important work of the Deadly Group. The event will feature a BBQ sausage sizzle and will be hosted by the Deadly Group with support from the Parents & Friends' Association.

Date: Thursday 20 March 2025
Time: 5.30pm–7.00pm
Venue: All Saints' College Centre for Performing Arts Amphitheatre

A special thank you to Isla (Year 11), a dedicated member of the Deadly Group, for creating the event flyer.

We look forward to seeing our community come together to celebrate culture, connection, and progress towards reconciliation.
